Showcasing a cross section of three generations of Chinese video artists, The Poplar Tree and Mirror presents work from Video Bureau’s archives by Li Ming, Zhang Peili, Ma Qiusha, Zhou Tao and Huang Xiaopeng. Dealing with social causality and the interrelated, global effects of decision-making in Chinese culture, the works exhibited interrogate the role of agency in the face of the transformative political and economic forces that drive these effects.
